Last night, acting legend Rita Moreno turned heads on the red carpet when she re-wore her dress from the 1962 Academy Awards where she won Best Supporting Actress for “West Side Story.” Moreno was born in 1931 and her acting career has spanned over 70 years!  She is one of 12 E.G.O.T. (Emmy, Oscar, Grammy, and Tony) winners, and one of 23 winners of the so-called “Triple Crown of Acting,” meaning a competitive acting award from the Oscars, Emmys, and Tonys.  She is one of only two, and the only living actor, to have received both distinctions. Other awards Moreno has under her belt?  George W. Bush awarded her the Presidential Medal of Freedom, Obama awarded her a National Medal of the Arts and in and she was given a Lifetime Achievement award by the Kennedy Center in 2015. Moreno currently stars in the Netflix show “One Day At A Time,” a remake of the 1975 Norman Lear original. If all of that wasn’t enough, here’s another little fun fact: did you know that Moreno is the voice of the titular character in the animated series. “Where on Earth is Carmen Sandiego?” #RitaMoreno #WestsideStory #CarmenSandiego #OneDayAtATime #EGOT #womenshistorymonth
