A universidade de Yale aceita inscrições para 84 cursos gratuitos. As capacitações são 100% por meio da plataforma Open Yale nas áreas de química, economia, história, psicologia, filosofia, estudos religiosos, sociologia, direito e literatura.

Os cursos da Open Yale são ministrados por professores e acadêmicos reconhecidos da universidade.

Cada curso inclui um conjunto completo de palestras disponibilizadas em vídeo, acompanhadas por outros materiais, como leituras sugeridas, exames e conjuntos de questões. As palestras estão disponíveis em formato de vídeo para download, e uma versão somente em áudio também é oferecida.

No entanto, a Open Yale não oferece certificado de conclusão, como as universidades brasileiras com cursos online e gratuitos costumam ofertar
